Introducing the Headmaster’s Scholarship (16+)
At Wellingborough School, we believe in nurturing talent wherever it shines. Our scholarship programme is built on a simple promise: to recognise exceptional ability and to offer the guidance, challenge, and opportunity that enable young people to fulfil their potential.
Last night we introduced the newest and most prestigious addition to our scholarship offering: the Headmaster’s Scholarship, available exclusively to Sixth Form students.
This is an extremely exciting new offering, and we were thrilled to announce it at our Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday, 20th November 2025.
Open to both new applicants and current students, this award recognises exceptional ability in one of three key areas:
- Sport
- Creative Arts
- Performing Arts
- Academic achievement
Recipients are selected personally by the Headmaster, following a thorough review of applications submitted through the scholarship programme. The award includes a 10% fee remission, with additional means-tested support available up to 100%.
Scholarship Programme at Wellingborough School
Whether a pupil excels in Academic study, Art, Drama, Music, or Sport, our scholarships are designed to support those who show outstanding skill and the drive to develop it further.
For scholars, the programme offers far more than a title. It provides specialist coaching, tailored support, and enriching experiences that strengthen expertise and build confidence. Every scholar becomes part of a community that encourages high achievement along with personal growth.
New Pupils Attending Wellingborough (Next Academic Year)
Prospective pupils joining Wellingborough in 2026 can express their interest in the scholarship programme through the school registration form. Once submitted, applicants will be invited to attend the relevant assessments.
Assessment dates for 2026 entry are:
- Creative Arts: 12th January 2026
- Performing Arts: 13th January 2026
- Academic: 19th January 2026
- Sport: 20th January 2026
Decisions will then be shared on 30th January with prospective pupils.
Scholarships for Current Pupils
Existing pupils do not need to apply. Throughout the academic year, those who demonstrate exceptional promise may be nominated by staff to join the scholarship programme. These students benefit from the same enhanced opportunities, support, and development pathways as external applicants, ensuring that talent is recognised and encouraged wherever it emerges.
Please note, while the Headmaster’s Scholarship carries fee remission, our standard scholarship programme remains an enrichment-based award without a reduction in school fees.
