Year 10 pupils from Wellingborough School recently took part in the Aerospace Careers Programme (ACP) Roadshow. The event was engaging and forward‑thinking, designed to broaden pupils’ understanding of the rapidly evolving world of aerospace, engineering and technology.
The roadshow encouraged pupils to look beyond the classroom. It highlighted the many pathways available within the aerospace sector. Through a series of informative presentations, Year 10 pupils explored a wide range of careers linked to aerospace and engineering. They also learned how past industrial revolutions have shaped the modern world. Looking to the future, the sessions showed how emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and virtual reality, are transforming industries and the workplace.
A key strength of the programme was its focus on hands‑on learning. Pupils engaged directly with innovative technology, including meeting Spot the robot. They also took part in immersive VR experiences. These activities included aircraft design, flight simulation and drone operation. Together, they helped pupils understand how theory is applied in real‑world contexts.
The roadshow also featured a visit from Hybrid Air Vehicles. Pupils were introduced to their pioneering Airlander aircraft. They learned about the aircraft’s development and purpose. Pupils were also able to experience what it might be like inside, offering a valuable insight into cutting‑edge British aerospace innovation.
Opportunities such as the ACP Roadshow play an important role in developing confidence, curiosity and ambition. By combining careers guidance with practical experiences, the programme encouraged pupils to think critically about future study and career options. It also reinforced the importance of creativity, problem‑solving and adaptability.
Our School is proud to provide experiences that inspire pupils to aim high and to consider how they might contribute to the world beyond School. To discover more about the opportunities at Wellingborough Senior School, click here.
