A level results day 2026
There is plenty to celebrate at Wellingborough School today as our Sixth Form students receive their A Level results, with 40% of grades currently at A*-A, 69% at A*-B and a 100% pass rate.
These results represent the second-highest proportion of A*-A grades in the School’s history, with the current figure just below the School’s record, set in 2023.
Our students have also achieved an excellent value-added score, demonstrating the significant progress they have made throughout their Sixth Form journey.
Head of Sixth Form, Sarah Baxby, said:
“We are incredibly proud of this year group. They have worked so hard to achieve what they have in their results today and thoroughly deserve this success.
“To have the second-highest A*-A performance in the School’s history, alongside a 100% pass rate and such strong value added, is something the whole School community can be extremely proud of.
“We wish every member of the year group the very best as they take their next steps. We will miss them enormously, but we are incredibly excited to see what they go on to achieve.”
Exceptional individual achievements
While the headline figures provide plenty to celebrate, it is the individual stories behind the results that make today particularly special.
More than a quarter of the year group achieved grades of A or above in every A Level they took, demonstrating the outstanding academic commitment of our students.
Congratulations to Sulaiman, Thomas, Anish, and Dalitso, who achieved a clean sweep of A* grades across their A Levels.
There is also great excitement for Nathan and William, who successfully met the requirements of their offers to study at the University of Oxford, securing their places at one of the world’s leading universities.
It has been a particularly successful year for our aspiring medics, too, with all five students holding Medicine offers meeting the required grades. Congratulations to Sulaiman, Ashleigh, Anish, Obinna, and Ayanna, who will now take the next step towards their medical careers.
Across the year group, there have also been many fantastic examples of academic progress, with pupils achieving grades above those that had been predicted for them. These achievements are a testament to their hard work, resilience, and the support of their teachers throughout their Sixth Form journey.
“The best A level results we’ve had in a decade”
Headmaster Simon Hawkes said:
“These are the best A Level results we’ve had in a decade, and I couldn’t be more pleased for this year group. They’ve worked incredibly hard, but they’ve also made the most of everything that Sixth Form has to offer, and that really shows in these results.
“What I’m most pleased about is that these results aren’t just about the top grades. They reflect a huge amount of progress across the year group and a lot of determination from our students.
“They should be incredibly proud of themselves. We certainly are.”
The next chapter
The results have also translated into excellent university outcomes, with over 90% of Wellingborough School students securing a place at their choice of university.
The destinations and courses chosen by this year’s cohort reflect the breadth of interests, talents, and ambitions across the year group. From medicine and science to the creative arts and beyond, our students are now preparing to take their next steps at universities and institutions across the country.
Among the destinations are Oxford, Durham, Southampton, Exeter, King’s College London, Newcastle, York, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, alongside many more.
Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our Sixth Form leavers. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved during their time at Wellingborough and look forward to hearing about their successes in the years ahead.
For now, however, they deserve the opportunity to celebrate. Congratulations to the Class of 2026, you have done yourselves, your families, and your school proud.
