Wellingborough School celebrates strong GCSE results and outstanding individual achievements

GCSE Results Day 2026

Wellingborough School is celebrating another strong set of GCSE results, with pupils achieving impressive outcomes that reflect their hard work, ambition and resilience throughout the past two years.

The headline figures place this year’s results among Wellingborough School’s strongest GCSE performances in recent years, with 48% of grades awarded at grades 9–7 and 96% at grades 9–4. Just as significantly, pupils performed very strongly against expectations, with ten pupils achieving more than two grades of progress per subject above their Year 9 predictions.

Outstanding individual achievements

Alongside the strength of the overall picture, there were also some exceptional individual performances across the year group.

Molly achieved an outstanding set of results, including nine grade 9s and an 8, as well as an exceptional 198/200 in GCSE Mathematics.

Arthur and Charlotte both achieved eight grade 9s and a 7, while Rose achieved seven grade 9s, an 8, and a 7.

Isabella also achieved an excellent set of results, including six grade 9s, an 8, and a 6.

These are just some of the headline individual achievements from a cohort in which many pupils are celebrating results that represent significant personal progress, determination and success.

Headmaster celebrates a “really strong set of results”

Headmaster Simon Hawkes said:

“I am absolutely delighted for our pupils. This is a really strong set of GCSE results, but what matters most is the range of individual success stories behind the figures.

“There has been a huge amount of hard work from the pupils, particularly in the final few months, supported by the dedication of their teachers and the encouragement of their families. Everyone involved should feel very proud of what has been achieved.

“These results give pupils an excellent platform for the next stage, whether they are staying with us for A levels or pursuing a different route elsewhere. We look forward to seeing all that they go on to achieve.”

Looking ahead

Many pupils will continue their education at Wellingborough School, progressing into the Sixth Form to study A Levels, while others will take up places at colleges, sixth forms and other institutions elsewhere.

Whatever route they choose, these results give the pupils an excellent foundation from which to move forward.

Congratulations, Year 11, you have done yourselves proud.
