On Thursday, Wellingborough Psychology students travelled to Milton Keynes Theatre to watch ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’. The trip provided a valuable opportunity to explore themes of autism and neurodiversity, supporting their current studies in Child Psychology and bringing classroom learning to life through theatre.
The production offered students a powerful insight into how autistic individuals may experience and interpret the world around them. Through innovative staging and immersive performances, the play encouraged students to consider different perspectives while deepening their understanding of a key area of the Psychology curriculum.
Reflecting on the experience, Lucy said, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was a really interesting story about an autistic person and the way they viewed life. I really enjoyed the production and the way the actors played more than one character. I think the play will be really beneficial to our studies in Psychology because we will soon be learning about autism.”
Ewan added: “I thoroughly enjoyed the theatre production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. The acting was incredibly immersive, and it gave me a visual representation of how autism can be presented, building on what I have studied in Psychology.”
The trip was an engaging and thought-provoking experience, helping students develop a deeper understanding of neurodiversity while enriching their learning beyond the classroom.
