Reception Celebrates Their Fabulous Family Connections

The Reception children welcomed members of their families into the classroom last Friday to celebrate all of our ‘Fabulous Families’. The children sang some songs related to our topic of ‘growing’, shared some writing they had created about why their families are special and then worked through a number of activities that had been prepped for the morning’s event.

The children had the chance to create a nest with some eggs, decorate a biscuit for their loved one to eat (and maybe one for them too!) and were able to share their wonderful work in the classroom. There was also an opportunity for the children to colour some Mother’s Day pictures as gifts and some bracelet making to give to someone special in their family.

Alongside all of the activities going on, we organised a fun game for the adults to play. Each child had drawn a picture of their adult using a black pen but no other details. The adults had to try and guess which picture was of them. The children were brilliant at not giving the game away! The adults accepted the challenge well and worked hard to follow the clues in their child’s drawings, in their books, etc.

It was a huge success, and it was wonderful to welcome so many family members into school to share and celebrate the children’s achievements so far this year. We are all very proud of how hard they have worked.
