Head’s Welcome – Mrs Owen, Head of Prep
The first week of term has flown by, and it has been lovely to see everyone back in school, as well as welcoming our new pupils. I have enjoyed hearing about everyone’s holidays, and with the excitement of Christmas over, the children certainly became quite excited again to see the flurry of snow earlier in the week. As I write this newsletter, I am yet to see what the weather holds in store for us on Friday, as every time I look at the forecast, it says something different!
Plenty has happened already with a very useful INSET day for staff on Monday, followed by a wonderful IPC Entry Point for Year 5, led by Mr Medley with Mr Pickett and Miss Allan, where the pupils learnt a lot about global trading as they start their Going Global topic. The pupils were all in good voice as the birthday bell was rung several times in Lower Prep, and in Upper Prep, the first Chapel service of the term included some super singing from all the pupils.
I hope the weather is kind to everyone over the weekend as we look forward to the start of another busy week on Monday.
Prep School’s Charity Update – Catherine Waite, Charity Co-ordinator
Many thanks for supporting our Animals in Need fundraising last term. Money raised from our three events (one non-uniform day, a superb Activity Break and the hugely popular chocolate tombola) totalled a fantastic £1,179.82. Emma, from Animals in Need, was delighted to come and talk to the Prep School about how our money will be used.
Also, Christmas Jumper Day, in aid of the work carried out by Save The Children, raised a total of £206.95. Thank you.
The Charity Committee will continue their hard work into the Lent term, and I hope you will engage in supporting these events. Our first fundraiser will be a non-uniform day on Tuesday 13th January, with the theme of Club Colours. A minimum £1 donation will be collected from all participating pupils.

Working Together to Keep Young People Safe
Many children are talking about ‘Brainrot’ games on Roblox—a term that refers to a group of viral, user-created experiences inspired by the online ‘brainrot’ meme. As a parent or carer, it’s helpful to understand what these games are, why they’re popular, and how you can help your child play safely.
This month’s newsletter addresses concerns around ‘Brainrot’ games and provides guidance for parents on how to respond to child-on-parent violence situations.

Safeguarding Message: Frozen Water
Frozen lakes and rivers might look beautiful, but they’re extremely dangerous. People lose their lives every year when they venture onto the ice or attempt to rescue others. Recently, there has been a rise in incidents regarding young people getting into difficulty in ponds and lakes after going onto the ice.
The poster below includes safety details that will help you stay safe around these areas and what you should do if you do see someone fall.
