This week our Year 8 artists began their case study into jobs in the creative industries with a visit to the Harry Potter Studios in Leavesden. During the tour, pupils had a lesson where they looked at costumes from the Harry Potter films, including measuring themselves up against Hagrid’s outfit. They learned about how costume designers plan and alter characters’ clothes to reflect personality and the atmosphere in the scene. The pupils then had an opportunity to design an outfit for a character of their choice.
The tour provides a comprehensive overview of the creative process, from its inception to its completion. Year 8 really enjoyed looking at the CGI effects, the physical models and the concept art which went into the film’s production… And of course, much butterbeer was consumed in the café.
